Tel Aviv - The Old Jaffa Visitors center

The Visitors Center of Old Jaffa is located in the heart of the old city and presents the fascinating history of Jaffa, from the prophet Jonah's journeys until modern times. The museum is small and modest but it is interesting, and it takes less than an hour to lightly skip through  the pages of Jaffa history.
The Visitor's Center is situated under Kdumim Square and visitors are met with an exhibit of archaeological findings, some of which were raised from the sea and are dated from the beginning of the Canaanite period, more than 6,000 years ago. Among the exhibits are iron cannon balls used by Napoleon's army, figurines, receptacles and royal seals from Ancient Egypt. There is a short animated film of about two minutes relating the legend of Andromeda and the visitor then passes through the central archaeological excavation. The next stop is a ten minute film reviewing the story of ancient Jaffa and featuring well-known Israeli actors.

In addition to the film, the visitor may look down through a glass floor above an archaeological excavation into the foundations of a Jewish home from the Roman period, and under that, remains of a previous period when the area was controlled by Hellenistic rulers. The site is open every day of the week and is suitable for a family visit. Groups should coordinate their visit in advance..
