The Israel Museum is the largest and most important museum in Israel. It was inaugurated in 1965 and reopened after renovation in 2010. The museum is located in Givat Ram, Jerusalem, adjacent to the Bible Lands Museum, and it is one of the ten largest museums in the world. The museum includes the Shrine of the Book in which the Dead Sea Scrolls are exhibited in addition to rare manuscripts of the Bible and an extensive model of Jerusalem during the era of the Second Temple. Additional museum attractions include a wing exhibiting the work of the best of Israeli and international artists, an archeology section presenting a variety of finds with emphasis on the archeology of Israel, starting from the prehistoric period and continuing through history, and a Youth Wing which organizes workshops for children and youth.
