In 1986  two brothers who wandered on the beach found next to Kibbutz Ginosar  an old nail and decided to dig deeper. Following the excavation revealed that they found the remains of a boat built from 12 types of wood and dated to the first century AD. This boat dating to the period of Jesus' activity through a lengthy process of conservation that lasted ten years and is now displayed Yigal Alon Museum at Kibbutz Ginosar under the name "Jesus boat"
